In person or via videochat, who's been keeping you company?

Aw, nice to be able to do that, even if hugs weren't possible.

My spouse and I have been keeping each other company in person, and we've been having a pretty active online social life. Some friends who host an annual weekend-getaway party did a virtual version last night -- we dropped in and did a bit of group puzzle-solving. Some other friends are having a board games party this afternoon. We played two online LARPs last week and each of us went to an online table top RPG. This coming week is dress rehearsal and performance for the workshop/staged reading I'm producing. Once I get through this patch of overscheduling, I'd like to get back to more one-on-one calls with people...

My household being large is occasionally A Lot with all of us home all the time, but I'm grateful to have companionship (4 adults 2 toddlers 2 cats 1 snek). We are co-isolating with partner's sister & her family so we do see them. We also saw partner's dad and stepmom (masked/distanced) in the yard yesterday, and that was nice.
On video I did my birthday with friends around the world-- I held Zooms at times suitable for East Asia/Australia and for Europe. The random mix of friends wound up being pretty fun!
The other thing I've been most enjoying on video is "chore chat" or "craft chat" with a friend. We do things that can be done during chat (cooking, mending, some quieter cleaning activities) and talk; it somehow feels more natural than some of the inevitable "uh, how is your quarantine going, so and so has the virus" kind of conversations that can feel sad or awkward or repetitive. So that's been really good and makes the cycle of chores feel less chore-y. I never mend anything and I got all my mending done!
