So many birds! The pigeons are starting to come closer to my apartment, and there are sparrows and I think doves. The cat has started chattering at the birds in hope that they will come closer.

And there are plants turning brown. It's summer!

Less good: it's fly season.

it's early Oregon summer - mostly sunny, though rain and cooler temp happen every few days, and mostly not too hot. this means that it's all green and flowers are everywhere. it's nice to be able to open windows & get fresh air into the place

So much rain!

"🌧️⚡ LIGHTNING STRIKES, HEAVY RAINFALL ⚡🌧️
There were close to 7,500 lightning strikes within 100km of Perth overnight from Sunday to Monday as the city experienced a heavy downpour.

Perth recorded its wettest day of the year so far on the weekend, with the official metro gauge in Mt Lawley notching up 38.2 millimetres in the 24 hours to 9am Monday.

The Swan Valley registered 46.4mm and the hills were absolutely drenched — Bickley had the state’s highest rainfall total of 90.2mm. 😮🌧️"

It's pretty confused, not as cold as it should be even in Auckland - I barely need a jacket outside and most of the deciduous tress haven't lost their leaves. It's been relatively dry but with some rain in the past 2 weeks. Although I know it's just one winter among many, it feels ominously like global warming.

Being from a semi-frozen north, I admit that I found Auckland's winter very attractive when I visited there. No snow, and some flowers still blooming. Green things that weren't just evergreens!

(I hate that global warming though.)

it's winter here. it's been very cold, cloudy and rainy since friday. today there's sun (finally! i was getting cranky), but it's still a bit cold. there's some green, though, and my mother's pink roses are in full bloom.
