Cry: missing all the hugs I normally get on May Day, and grieving all the hugs that aren't allowed right now.
Laugh: when I told him I was making this post, my partner, looking for something to make me giggle, said, "Oh my God, the comedian has no clothes on." This is a paraphrase of this Muppets sketch where the setup line is, "Good grief, the comedian's a bear!"
I got to talk to the people I miss hugging the most and I have a partner who knows how to make me laugh. I'm lucky.

Lots of things from Final Fantasy XIV make me smile in amusement. They are very big on puns for the names of their quests and FATEs (FATEs are battles that happened in the open world that multiple people can participate in.) Some of the titles that come to mind:
"I Just Died in Six Arms Tonight" "Kickin' It With the Kedtraps" "Quake Me Up Before You O'Ghomoro" "In The Sylphlands, Treasure Hunts You" "Fear and Odin in the Shroud"
There's a whole list of funny ones on reddit, here
It's rare that I actually burst into laughter these days, though. It has nothing to do with the pandemic; this has been going on for years, and I have actually complained to my psychiatrist about it. Therefore, I really treasure it when something DOES make me laugh. Again, it was a moment from FFXIV that did it (um, that's slightly NSFW, just a warning).
Laugh: Some lovely fanfiction I read this morning!
Almost cry: My sourdough starter smelled like it was going bad. I made the mistake of putting it in a dirty jar for a bit and had to rescue it. (I think it's fine! I've just been continuing to feed it. Right now, it smells like overripe apples but the Internet tells me it will stabilize.)
Laugh: video of cats with their owners, owner filtered to have a cat face. Cats recognising something Very Weird and looking up sloooowly... then down at screen, and up, and down....
yup I have seen that! it is hilarious! and fascinating because, since the cats are presumably seeing the cat-faced humans only on the phone screen via selfie camera, proves these are all smart enough cats to pass the mirror test! poor kitties though.
Zoe-kitty made a tactical error. silveradept: "Who would have thought all those years of marching band would have made my legs strong enough to hold up a cat with a blanket?"
also silveradept just now: "[work-relevant conversation] and now I am being photobombed by one of the cats in the household. Say hi to Thea." (I kidnapped Thea from her doze on the back of the sofa by the open window, azurelunatic put her on the back of Silver's computer chair, Thea gave us all a Look)
You know how they say "no tears in the writer, no tears in the reader"? I hardly ever cry full stop. But these last couple chapters of my novel-length, I keep leaking. Mind you we're already past the 'with' pivot in the "Angst with a Happy Ending" tag. It is all up from here; my point-of-view characters just don't know that yet.
Edited (I can punctuate! also I remembered a recent cry to go with the laughs) Date: 2020-05-01 10:28 pm (UTC)
I am sitting in on a first read through of a show I'm producing/supervising. The multigenerational grownups playing high school students are adorable and amusing.

To be fair, if cats had human face, I would make expressions about it too.
