I've been enjoying the daily walks after my SO finishes his work. These are probably going to shift soon as my schedule will be changing, so I won't be home every day at 5 to remind him to get offline promptly.
I've been getting my SO as my workout partner -- usually, he has martial arts 2-3 days a week -- which has been great. And I'm an introvert, so not having to cope with 'come to this family gathering' has been glorious. (My older brother is an extrovert and likes to play head of the family and it drives me insane.)
And the random icon is a serious introvert; think I'll go with that.
I understand the relief of the cancelled plans (even though I have some family gatherings that I would dearly like to have attended in the last few months) and I wish I could find a reason to avoid the Family Zoom my SO's family has instituted, as there is much too much Let's Just Talk in it.
Yeah. I'm kinda notorious in the family for not doing Facetime even, so no one has tried to get me to do Zoom. I'm sorry yours is draining for you! (Great icon!)
I understand the need they feel for some connection, but these are people who didn't regularly talk on the phone prior to the epidemic and who honestly do not have 40 minutes worth of interesting stuff to say to each other on a weekly basis, so there's a lot of talking for the sake of talking.
Cooking properly, working out more consistently. There are things I miss about my commute (really clear transition between work and not work, sitting on the train reading), but not having it has allowed me more time for these other things!
Social events are easier to get to/from, which lowers the bar for attending, means less time spent going from A to B, and also makes drop-in events easier to stay just as long as one wants.
LARPing with people I usually see only once or twice a year because they don't live local to me.
