That picnic with my parents my finally happen this weekend!
(But for me, seeing people in person is great, but I don't feel all that deprived by the difference of seeing them only by video or phone. I'm not all that physically oriented, and I guess this is one of the side effects.)
Also, this week I went out twice for two different "serving the greater good/surrounded by strangers/poor social distancing" type things, which is a very different kettle of worms.
It's just hard to figure out how to reconcile going out for the greater good with staying in for the greater good. Not that this is a novel thought or anything. :)
Also, apparently thus is All The Roses (And Also All The Other Flowers) week in my neck of the woods. And people have discovered sidewalk chalk for a) activism, b) art, and c) entertaining the kids.
I've seen enough things that say going out for the greater good is fine as long as you're careful, and I imagine all the people weighing pandemic vs. need to express themselves are doing the same math you are.
socially? I have no plans to at this point - my county isn't open yet, and while I see a handful of people at work (one day a week) I'm making no plans to meet folks otherwise just yet
I'm not as yet. Ireland has a 5-stage easing programme that as of today has become 4-stage because the virus seems to be managed well. All shops are re-opening on Monday (hair salons etc not for some time, though). I'm feeling jittery about it and will be following guidelines to continue staying at home as much as possible, as I have a long term lung condition.
How to stop my extremely obstinate friends from turning up, that's the problem!
Sympathies on the feeling jittery. Western Australia is ahead of where you are in the reopening, and all the doom and gloom predictions have so far not come to pass, and I'm still jumpy about everything.
Yes - our chief medical officer has okayed the speed-up, some face-to-face businesses like hairdressers are still on the old schedule, but I guess I'd got used to thinking of a 15-week plan! I'm dying to see my friends, and up to 15 people can meet outdoors (6indoors) as long as social distancing is observed - but some of my friends are definitely the type who can't be told what to do and would be speed-hugging like maniacs!
Unfortunately, yes, expecting to see lots of people. Our state is reopening at a perfectly sensible rate given that we've had minimal new cases in the last month, and they are all either repatriated locals in quarantine, or off the Al-Kuwait sheep ship.
Which means work is mostly back to normal, the skate rink goes back to normal for training on Monday (and up to 100 people as of next Saturday, which means public sessions resume), my dancing class is kind of back to normal although fewer people than last term. And I'm starting to catch up on the backlog of shopping that needs doing, which means going to the shops.
In terms of friends? I don't have the oomph to even contemplate catching up with anyone.
