In addition to my usual voice lessons and occasional playing ukulele solo or with spouse, we're currently prepping for a live action rolepmaying game about a band/coven, which is structured around karaoke duets. I am only familiar with 2 of the 8 songs my character sings, so gonna need to practice.... (I'm a little indignant that my character is explicitly defined as loving show tunes, yet doesn't actually sing any -- my chances of knowing a random show tunes are higher than almost any other musical genre!)
Aw, it's too bad that your familiarity with the genre isn't going to help in the karaoke. Learning six songs seems like a big investment of time for a LARP. I hope you enjoy the process!
It is a big investment for a 4-hour game! (I've done similar once before, and that was memorization, no karaoke supports involved.) I wouldn't sign up for it if singing/learning songs were not inherently fun for me. :)
Well, I recorded "Ain't No Sunshine When You're Gone" - it was supposed to be John Sheppard singing the song as he was missing Rodney, for a podfic challenge, but then I dropped out of the challenge so I never did anything with it. Oh well.
Yep, you had to record a song as though a fandom character was singing it, for points. I didn't have time for all the challenges and I kind of hate Discord, which was where it was based. I just don't have the time to read all the chats.
I dreamed I was singing a few nights ago. I can't remember what it was - probably The National, since I've been playing them a lot - other than it had a chorus, and verses, and I wasn't afraid to sing as loud as I could.
I sing and I whistle whenever I feel it won't be intrusive. And I've touched at least three instruments in the last week, one of them to actually draw a note or two out of! Sadly, it didn't count as music, as I was tuning a violin preparatory to lending it to a friend.
I often sing songs to my cat where I replace some of the lyrics with her name. Lately I've been singing that one that goes "oh my darling Clementine" but my other favourite is that old doo wap song Lollipop, since the cat's name is Molly.
