There was an event this weekend that I was looking forward to a great deal. Now that it has passed I am having trouble holding onto the good parts in the grief over what it lacked due to COVID, like getting to hug dozens of my friends.

That sounds like a frustrating restriction, since reading a story about any of those things is certainly not the same thing as condoning them. Good luck with your studies!
