My cat has decided that many desserts are cat food, despite cats' purported inability to taste sweetness. This includes the inside of sandwich cookies and marshmallows. She tried to tell me an apple fritter was cat food yesterday with the pointed food-sniffing she uses when she thinks she'll like something, but I was letting her have none of it.
Cats aren't supposed to be able to taste sweetness? Soooo, why do the bad cat treats (and dog treats) all have corn syrup in them? Darned ignorant pet food companies.
One of our dogs howled to the Jeopardy! theme. Also, telling her, "Molly, it's Friday" was her cue to go be locked in the kitchen. We often ordered pizza on Fridays and so would lock her in the kitchen so she wouldn't attack the delivery person.
Does he at least sing in tune? When I was in Treble Chorus in college (no auditions required), the woman next to whom I stood constantly sang off key, and she projected like a champ! It was awful for me, as I only have a relative sense of pitch.
Right now she is sitting on my head, purring up a storm, and has been since before 6am. I’ve tried suggesting that this is not good weekend behaviour, but just got more purrs in reply. 😸
Try having a claws-intact cat who loves on your tender belly and breast flesh just as you're trying to go to sleep for the night. Even though it's through clothing, it still ends up looking like you've got the measles the next morning.
My cat licks the humidifier when I have it out. That's not super weird since cats like varied sources of water and would naturally do things like lick dew off grass. BUT since I've usually had a penguin or elephant shaped kids' humidifier (if it's taking up space, it might as well be fun, right?) I have a lot of pictures of her smooching a penguin.
Also, she really really wants to hunt a sunbeam. She'll just yell at them. And chase reflected sunlight if it's bouncing off a phone or other shiny object and moving around.
My cat Melanie "Mellie," a beautiful seal-tip modern Siamese/Snowshoe mix from our local Humane Society shelter, drinks and eats with her paw. What I mean is she dips her paw in her water dish, then licks the water from her paw; and she dips her paw in her food dish and drags some food out onto the floor and eats it off the floor.
When I was small, we had a cat that would drink out of the Christmas tree stand by dipping a paw in and licking it off. That was the only time I remember observing that behavior, though. Cats can be so funny.
