How do you engage in politics while staying inside?

What have you done recently to stay current with events while being confined to a small ambit?

I get daily news updates in my email to try to keep up with stuff that doesn't show up in my social media. Two of them are from local(ish) newspapers. For national/international stuff I've wound up subscribed to the USA Today daily update, since I find it generally less depressing than the others I've tried (NYT and WaPo). I don't do more then skim them usually but it helps.

For REALLY local stuff I've had to resort to Facebook.

Yeah, the NYTimes daily update is pretty dire, followed by a recipe like that's going to make everything that preceded it lighter. I might try the USA Today one on for size.

I hate that Facebook is the best way to get local news. I get it, but I hate it.
