It's a Chinese drama about the trials of two wizards who are soulmates. Canonical soulmates. This does not make their path through life and reincarnation easy.
The good bits tour avoids a lot of internal clan politics and a bunch of whump, neither of which are to my taste or that of my tour guide.
It has exquisite costuming and special effects on the order of Xena, and is generally very sure of its own importance when it comes to delivering massive amounts of exposition. If you're interested, I can try to find you a watch guide -- the first episode starts the story in a pretty bonkers place and I was thoroughly unconvinced by it when I tried it without a guide who could tell me what the actual heck was going on.
I am watching this RIGHT NOW and I am all about the tragic story of two incredibly hot gay wizards in love. (I am also all about the adorably useless younger Lord Nie, with his fancy fans and his porn collection and his worship of WWX. He's like a slash kitten).
I've been listening to Hem a fair bit around here. They're strong lyrically, and they've got some non-singing pieces as well, like that one I sent you about the Burned-over District. I've also been getting a kick out of instrumental soundtracks that are better than the movies they were made for, like the ones for Elizabethtown and Catch and Release.
For movies, The Death of Stalin is a comedy that's as dark as dark gets, and cathartic viewing right now. For reading, I'm enjoying some Joan Didion, who's so good at putting words together. I think you'd like her essay on migraines, because she achieves something very difficult: describing the absence of pain.
I don't watch TV or movies, choosing to get most of my entertainment through video games. But I just discovered a delightful cosplayer who does video game skits: cloudiemcdoom.
There's also thisspoonybard who does piano covers of video game music. Also highly recommended!
I'm currently rewatching the whole of The Good Place on Netflix.
And rewatching the first series of What We Do in the Shadows made me fall in love with it even more than I already was, and the BBC has just started broadcasting the second series.
