Sushi, fresh pasta, and Bolognese (from different restaurants). My favorite sushi place opened for takeout, so I got dinner from there over the weekend. And the bolognese sauce was from an Italian restaurant I used to go to for special occasions, and it was an excellent, quick dinner w some pasta from a fresh pasta shop.
It's funny you mention that - the +1 has made sushi at home a couple times, which turned out well. He made the fish according to a Serious Eats poke recipe. The hardest part has actually been getting the sushi rice to turn out right - it keeps turning out too sweet or too sour. (The Serious Eats recipe just calls for regular steamed rice, but we were trying to make seasoned sushi rice for rolls.)
