I have 1) founded a community that seems to be entertaining and/or helping a few people and 2) started rereading a trunk novel of mine that looks pretty darn good, actually.

Beading every day

I've managed to craft a bunch of necklaces and a wristful of bracelets! I was planning on giving these away at WisCon 44 in the end of May, but my home con was cancelled due to The Current Crisis.

I gave myself permission to just make stuff, instead of obsessing over making perfect stuff. People have said nice things about them, AND the best part has been the joy in the doing.

The first calzones I have had in…at least two years? Maybe three or four? Also possibly the best calzones I have ever had, which is on whichever housemate had the bright idea of using the rest of the spaghetti meat sauce as part of the calzone filling.

That sounds delightful! I have the ambition to make gluten free calzones at some point soon because my SO needs that accommodation, and now I will consider it all the more seriously.

I don't think that's going to work because gluten is the stretchy-holdy part, which seems important for a recipe that involves folding the dough around the filling—my GF sisters, when making pizza from scratch, have to partially bake their pizza dough before the sauce, cheese, and toppings go on in order to be sure it'll hold together after—but if you figure out how to make it work, I really want to know how!

I'm getting good work done on my Final Fantasy Brave Exvius script. And today I learned how to pick up wraps when you wrap and turn in knitting.

Nah, I can't knit socks. Well, I technically know how, it's just that I can't knit at a tight enough gauge for socks, which does make me sad because hand knitted socks are awesome.

I am knitting the Quest hat from Knitty, option 1.

Picked up a new technique for Tunisian crochet to work 'in the round' using a hook with a long cable and folding the work in half. It sounds weird and took a bit of getting used to, but I'm finishing up a pair of fingerless mitts that is turning out very well if I say so myself.

I made dumplings on my own for the first time!

Thank you! I made jiaozi with ground beef and frozen parsley (which is unconventional, I know, but it worked out pretty well).

Finished the second sock in a pair of knit socks I started ... last year? January? No sure exactly how long the first sock was languishing without its mate, but it's now paired off. I have great ambitions for knitting two more second socks (I have half a pair of worsted socks and half a pair of lace socks that are each missing their second sock) before the shelter in place order lifts.

You know, every time I switch my yarn over in the pair of socks I am knitting in tandem on my magic loop, I remember why I'm doing it this way: nobody gets left behind.

I salute your commitment to giving socks their soulmates. I have failed at that in the past.

The weather's taken a turn for the colder recently, which helps. I'm always more motivated to finish socks when my feet are cold!
